Itinerary

Day 1: Our VIP Arrival Services in Nairobi

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you'll be warmly greeted and assisted through immigration and custom formalities. You'll then be escorted to Hemingways Nairobi Hote, where you can settle into your elegant, spacious suite and take in the sweeping views from your private balcony of what Hemingway called ‘the green hills of Africa.'

Day 2: Into the Fabled Maasai Mara

Named for the Danish author of Out of Africa, Karen Blixen Camp evokes the romance of classic African safaris. Its riverside location in Mara North Conservancy, with unfenced borders to the National Reserve, offers an ideal base for exploring this celebrated wildlife region. During the Great Migration, the nearby Mara River becomes the setting for dramatic crossings as wildebeest and zebra make their perilous journey through crocodile-inhabited waters. After lunch and time to refresh, an afternoon game drive with your safari guide begins your exploration of the Mara - widely acclaimed as Kenya's finest wildlife destination. Meals B+L+D

Day 3: Ballooning + Game Drives

Rise early for an unforgettable adventure as the first golden rays of sunlight spread across the Maasai Mara. Floating silently above the savannah in a hot air balloon, you'll enjoy a spectacular bird's-eye view of the wildlife stirring below. Touch down in the open savannah for an al fresco champagne breakfast before returning to your luxury safari camp. With its sweeping panoramas of rolling grasslands punctuated by the graceful silhouettes of acacia trees, the Maasai Mara is ravishing in its wild beauty and celebrated as one of Africa's richest wildlife habitats. Explore the Maasai Mara National Reserve on game drives with your experienced safari guide, seeking out the remarkable diversity of animals that inhabit this region. Meals B+L+D

Day 4: Another Day in the Mara

Spend another full day exploring the Mara on game drives with your sharp-eyed safari guides. The Maasai Mara is one of the few places on the continent where wildlife can still be seen in the same abundance that existed a century ago. The region supports healthy populations of the Big Five, along with giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, hippos and baboons. After your afternoon game drive, enjoy the time-honored safari tradition of sundowners in a scenic setting with magnificent views across the Mara. As daylight fades, listen to the changing sounds of the African bush as grazing animals settle for the night and nocturnal predators begin to stir. Back at camp, enjoy dinner accompanied by house wines and cocktails. Meals B+L+D

Day 5: Fly into the Serengeti

Head to the airstrip for your safari flight to the Serengeti. On arrival, your transfer to Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge becomes an exciting game drive, offering your first opportunity to explore the Serengeti and seek out its iconic animals. Set among the picturesque Wogakuria Hills near the Mara River, your luxury lodge lies within the main corridor of the Great Migration. Spacious, glass-fronted tented suites offer elegant contemporary comforts, private viewing decks and plunge pools overlooking the surrounding wilderness. Designed with sustainability in mind, the lodge complements its beautiful hillside setting. The remainder of the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the amenities of your lodge. This evening, savor a delicious dinner featuring freshly prepared cuisine. Meals B+L+D Note: Guests traveling on a private safari from January through June and November through December will stay at Lemala Nanyukie Tented Lodge, a luxury property in the game-rich Eastern Serengeti.

Day 6: On Safari in the Serengeti

The Maasai call it Siringitu - "the place where the land moves on forever." Indeed, these seemingly endless expanses are awe-inspiring in their natural beauty. The Serengeti is also renowned for its extraordinary concentration of animals, including the Big Five. Morning and afternoon game drives bring opportunities to observe predators and prey in action, while your guide shares fascinating insights into animal behavior and the delicate balance of this rich ecosystem. During the seasonal Great Migration river crossings, Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge is ideally situated for witnessing thousands of wildebeest and zebra gathering along the Mara River as they prepare to brave its currents. Meals B+L+D

Day 7: Another Thrilling Day of Game Drives in the Serengeti

Featured in numerous nature documentaries, Serengeti National Park is one of the world's best-known wildlife sanctuaries. Established in 1952, the park covers 5,700 square miles, an area larger than the state of Connecticut. Its ecosystem is among the oldest on Earth, with essential features of climate, vegetation and wildlife that have changed little over the past million years. The Serengeti is home to a fascinating variety of birdlife, antelope, wild dogs and big cats, offering new discoveries with every game drive.Set out after breakfast and again in the afternoon with your safari guide for up-close, unobstructed wildlife viewing. Your final Serengeti game drive concludes with sundowner cocktails in the bush, surrounded by the dramatic scenery of the Serengeti. Meals B+L+D

Day 8: From the Serengeti to Ngorongoro

After breakfast, a scenic safari flight brings you to the Lake Manyara Airstrip, where you'll be met and escorted to Ngorongoro Oldeani Mountain Lodge. Set on a picturesque hillside with commanding views of Lake Eyasi and the surrounding highlands, this luxurious retreat offers a tranquil setting near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Beautifully appointed suites blend contemporary style with classic African influences, each with a private terrace overlooking the countryside. After lunch, the afternoon is yours to relax and enjoy the lodge's inviting atmosphere. This evening, savor a leisurely dinner featuring fine cuisine and attentive service. Meals B+L+D

Day 9: Down to the Crater Floor

There is no place quite like Ngorongoro Crater, with its towering volcanic walls enclosing a natural sanctuary unlike any other. Giraffes and impalas are rarely seen on the crater floor; although the lush vegetation would provide excellent grazing, these animals find it difficult to navigate the steep slopes. The enclosed geography and open grasslands also make it easier for conservation officials to patrol and protect endangered species such as the black rhino. Descend to the crater floor this morning for a game drive in search of the fascinating animals that inhabit this unique ecosystem. Back at the lodge, enjoy a late lunch and a restful afternoon. Meals B+L+D

Day 10: To Arusha + Departure

After breakfast, fly to Arusha for lunch at Arusha Coffee Lodge, set on one of Tanzania's largest coffee plantations. Then visit Shanga, an inspiring social enterprise where talented local artisans create distinctive glassware and textiles from recycled materials. Later, transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your homeward flight. Meals B+L
